My song/composition 'NYC' (which I wrote the week after September 11th, 2001) was signed to 'Wild Pink Music' Publishing, the company that has already placed some of my music in movie & television.

’trumpop’ @ 2009 Grammy’s
'trumpop' has been submitted to the 2009 Grammys: Vote for 'Best Contemporary Jazz Album' - there's a 5 in 78 chance (that's about 10 %) for a nomination...not bad at all!!!! I also submitted for 'Best New Artist' and 'Album of the Year', where I have to compete against Mary J. Blige, Christina Aguillera etc......they are cute, but can they play a superlocrian scale over an altered dominant 7th chord, huh?

I am proud to say, that my original 'One for Louie' (Track No.5 on 'Timbalero') has just been bought by the USA Cable Network series 'Burn Notice' and will air somewhere in January 2009.

'trumpop' took a "sympathy" drop with the Dow Jones this week and plunged 10 spots down to No.40 in the Radio Charts (20 weeks straight...yeah). But a very friendly DJ from Hot Springs, VA called me to let me know that he had just received my CD and started playing 'trumpop' on the radio....nice - Thanks, Pete.

Song ’One for Louie’ on USA Cable Networks/ ’trumpop’ at No.33
My song 'One for Louie' will air on USA Cable Network series 'Burn Notice (Episode 212) sometime in January 09.(3 more songs have been signed to the same LA publisher, who has pitched my music to movie/TV.)

'trumpop' moved back up to no. 33 in the Smoothjazz.com Top 50 Indie Charts with over 130 spins last week and 18 weeks straight in the charts.

I had a great time playing w/Brian Culbertson in Sacramento for the KSSJ 94.7 Concert Series 2008.

CJO Big Band
Last night was the Contemporary Jazz Orchestra's last performance at Jazz at Pearl's (it is closing its doors the end of July), which has been my Monday night steady gig for 9 years. As we were reminiscing about our time together, it became clear to me that I have become a much better player due to all the great musicians I 've had the pleasure of playing with and having to play my best every Monday night. Thanks to all the great 'cats' for many outstanding musical memories and for outstanding musicianship & friendship. I am convinced that this great band will be playing soon again.......

Last CJO Concert at Pearls/ Pearl’s closed!!
This coming Monday, July 28th 2008, the Contemporary Jazz Orchestra will play its last gig after a 13 year stint of playing great Big Band Jazz every Monday night at Jazz at Pearl's in San Francisco...I'm reeeeaaaalllllyyy bummed out! Will someone with $$$$ please step forward and preserve this awesome thing...?

Mazacote just got done recording their first studio recording! It should be released in fall 2006.

May:
I will be co-producing Timbalero-Legend Louie Romero's (Willie Colon Orchestra, Hector Lavoe, Ruben Blades, Celia Cruz a.o.) Latin Jazz Band Mazacote's first studio recording in June. The record will be released on the 'stefrecord' label.

April:
I just recorded a few tunes for a new jazz improv method book by Saxophonist Dane Post, that features, among others, pianist Geoffrey Keezer on piano. Look out for that one in the stores!

Hi there!
It's been a while since I've had the time to sit down to update my website. I've been really busy moving into my new home, working on my new recording, creating my new website 'www.steffenkuehn.com' (which should be up and running within the next couple of months). My latest recording session for 'trumpop' included the phenomenal vocalists Larry Baptiste, Sandy Griffith and Claudia Villela.
I also had the opportunity to have the great percussionist Karl Perazzo (Santana) play on my new record.
I am also excited about being part of bassist Dewayne Pate's new record, which, among others, will include guitarist Robben Ford.

November:
The 'New European Real Book', published by Sher Music Co. (distributed by Hal Leonard Publishing) has come out. It features the composition 'Not in Austria' by W. Roth, published by 'Trumpop Publishing' which is my own publishing company.Check it out at Sher Music Co.

Pianist/keyboardist Hector Martignon, who has played and worked with the likes of Ray Baretto, Jeff 'Tain' Watts, Richard Bona and many others has agreed to play on (at least) 2 tracks of the upcoming 'Steffen Kuehn Nonet' recording.
Publisher Sher Music Co. has licensed the composition 'Not in Austria' (W. Roth) from Steffen Kuehn Nonet CD 'Now or Later' to be part of the 'European Real Book', due to be published by the end of 2005.

I am working hard to finish up my second solo CD entitled 'TRUMPOP' which I have been working on for over 4 years now! Stylistically speaking it will be in the Contemporary/Smooth Jazz genre.
I started production on my second Nonet record in December. This one is a diversion from the debut release 'Now or Later' as far as it will feature guitar, keyboard and percussion, giving the overall recording a 'Fusion' sound.
You will be able to listen to my first venture into House/Dance music with the release ( Feb. '05) of DJ Sandy Rivera's 'TROUBLE', out on Defected Records (UK).
I am also appearing in the 'Desde la Bahia' 2005 Commerorative Calender, dedicated to Bay Area Latin Music, playing with Julio Bravo (month of March). Photos and more info at www.maidenfoto.com
